No one grows up wanting to hate math. I want to see a world where people don't hate it or fear it. I don't hope this for math's sake. No, there will always be mathematicians, math will always be around and appreciated by many people. There will always be breakthroughs. With that in mind, I hope instead for people's sake, the people that hate and/or fear it.
On my end, I always work on how I want to say things and what I can do to reach people. I think about what makes me an effective communicator. Part of that is being able to have such a nuanced understanding of the subject matter that I can talk about it in a variety of ways. Part of that is listening and watching what is going from the students.
I hope that more people share in my wonder of math. I want people to realize how practical it is as well. I'm also very proud that I have gotten more people into it, that I have made some people hate it less. I'm furthermore glad that people have made it a point to let me know that. I'm incredibly grateful.
