Earlier I said that math is a language, and it very much is. If I am writing a paper in a foreign language, I need to know the mechanics of that language, how it is structured, the vocabulary, and more. I need to have a firm understanding. I need to build up statements to properly write my essays.

I need to know how to write a paper in my own language in order to properly handle the foreign language that I am working with. If I am asked to find something in the foreign language and I am being told the instructions in my native tongue, I have to have strong reading comprehension skills.

All of this crucial. We have to know read and write and the traditional sense. Then we also have to know to read and write in the other language. Our translation skills have to be pretty good too, as do our vocabularies.
